1st Kavaklidere-AMAC Tennis Tournament in Doubles

The first Kavaklidere-AMAC Tennis Tournament in Doubles, organized by Austrian Embassy Defense Attaché Johann (Hans) Hornung and retired Ambassador Aykut Berk, took place at Kavaklidere Tennis Club on 12-13 September 2009.

The event, hosted 16 participants consisting AMAC members and Kavaklidere Tennis Club members.   Deniz Solen being the only female participant of the tournament was the pride of female gender.   Also Ambassador of Israel Gabby Levy was among the participants.   The mascot of the event was Czech Embassy Defense Attaché’s daughter Veronica who definitely captured all hearts.

Although the second day of the tournament was a little adventurous because of the sudden showers, the first day went by more smoothly.

However, the second day, even though everything went very smoothly organization wise, to be able to finish the tournament, Hans Hornung had to try to dry the court twice during the day with the help of club workers.

The second day ended by a dinner and award ceremony for the winners which was held at the club together with family members of the participants.

Murad Ozcivelek and Dan Georgescu were the first place winners.   While Murad Tokcan and Tomaz Svozil were the second, Aykut Berk and Hans Hornung were the third place holders.
