 Six-time World Bowling Champion Rafael "Paeng" Nepomuceno participated in a Diplomatic Bowling Tournament at Play Planet Bowling Center in Panora Shopping Mall of Ankara. Nepomuceno a Guinness Book of World Records-holder, and the recognized greatest international bowler in the history of the sport was in Ankara to raise funds for the victims of recent series of typhoons and floods in the Philippines.

The event organized by Ambassador of Philippines Pedro Chan was sponsored by Play Planet Bowling Hall, Etihat Airlines, Esen Nakliyat and Rixos Hotel.  According to Ambassador Chan “The special bowling tournament in Ankara will form part of the year-long activities marking the 60th Anniversary of Philippines -Turkey Diplomatic Relations this year. We also aim to raise funds to be donated to the victims of the recent series of typhoons and floods that devastated the Philippines where over 1,000 lives were lost and 2 million people have been dislocated from their homes and continue to suffer from illnesses and related problems brought about by those destructive natural calamities."

Meanwhile, Nepomuceno said that he is happy to be participating in the bowling tournament, and "more so for being able to help the Embassy's drive to raise funds for the typhoon and flood victims in the Philippines." He added, "Almost everybody has been directly or indirectly affected by the typhoons. I thank the Philippine Embassy for organizing this bowling event and allowing me to make a direct contribution."

Many Filipino community members, Turks and some diplomatic community members participated in the event and had the opportunity to chat with the world champion, take pictures with him and most important of all to watch him play, which left everybody in the hall breathless.

After a tournament played by teams bowlers of first six highest score had the great opportunity to play with Paeng Nepomuceno whom everybody was delighted to watch and his spectacular play was followed by Segundo Dasmarinas, Cristy Reimann, Inanc Golen, Adnan Tarhan and Stefan Reimann.

At the end of the tournament owner of Marilyn Monroe Bar Efsane Karacasu hosted a party and members of the Philippines Embassy headed by Ambassador Chan and the champion Nepomuceno with his wife Pinky were able relax after a tiring day.
