Farewell Reception for Ambassador of Belgium

by the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps

(14 August 2009)

Another heartbreaking farewell…..

The Dean of Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman Mohammed Nasser Al Wohaibi hosted a reception to bid farewell at Swissotel to the Ambassador of Belgium Marc Van Rysselberghe who will soon be leaving Ankara after serving in Turkey since October 2004.

The Dean of Diplomatic Corps delivered a farewell speech, in which he emphasized the strong character of Ambassador Rysselberghe and wished him good luck during his retirement days and then handed him the traditional silver tray on behalf of all heads of diplomatic missions in Ankara.

After Dean, Ambassador Rysellberghe delivered a speech and in his speech he extended his condolences to Turkish citizen Tekin’s family.     Tekin was detained in Belgium earlier this month after quarreling with police and was imprisoned where he lost his life. Then Ambassador Rysselberghe said that he will be enjoying his retirement days back home.
