Another Heartbreaking Farewell

Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Eckart Cuntz hosted a reception at his residence to bid farewell to a very popular couple of the AMAC community, the Assistant Defense Attaché of the embassy Com. Alex Schindler and Susi and to welcome the new Assistant Defense Attaché Lt. Col. Alexandre Brand.

The residence was over crowded by AMAC members, their wives, members of the Turkish General Staff and the Schindler couple’s Turkish friends. The surprise guest of the event was former Dutch defense attaché’s wife Dieck Wesselingh-Schroots who is visiting Ankara to attend a charity ball.

After the arrival of guests the host Ambassador Cuntz took the floor and made a farewell speech in which he also welcomed the new Assistant Defense Attaché, then Liz Schneider gave a farewell present to Susi Schneider and Col. Charles (Chuck) Schneider the US Embassy Defense and Air Attaché handed Alex the traditional AMAC farewell sword then Dean of the Military Attaché Corps and Pakistani Defense Attache Air Commodore Wasim Hussain made a farewell speech.

After the farewell ceremony until late hours guests enjoyed another beautiful Ankara night with a little bit of heart ache.
