Italian Armed Forces Day Celebrated

On the occasion of the Armed Forces Day, the Ambassador of Italy Carlo Marsili and his wife Selva and Defense Attaché Rear Admiral (LH) Pietro Luciano Ricca and his wife Daniela hosted a reception at Sheraton Hotel & Convention Center.

The event started with Ambassador Marsili’s speech in which he said, “Today we celebrate the last day of the Italian participation in World War I, whose conclusion contributed to the fulfillment of the unifying process of our Country. Similarly, from the ashes of those tragic events, the Republic of Turkey was created.: founding moments of our nation building processes, which testify a meaningful similarity to be traced back in the common richness of our shared history and culture.”

“The twentieth century inspired us and all European Countries to proceed united on the path of peace, stability, reciprocal interdependence as well as economic and social growth.

World War I had a tremendous impact on our Continent. The last sixty years of European history clearly show how real change stems from the peaceful integration among different cultures,” Ambassador Marsili said.

Finally Ambassador Marsili concluded his speech by emphasizing that, “As other European countries, Turkey took part in World War I, while being among the victims of the destruction this conflict caused worldwide. In the light of this common history, it is our duty to include Turkey in the ongoing building process of the European Union, nest to the other Member States”.

After his Speech Ambassador Marsili presented order of merits to head of Turkish-Italian Friendship Group AKP Kars Deputy Zeki Karabayir and AKP Istanbul Deputy Nursuna Memecan.

After the ceremony crowd of around 500 guests enjoyed the delicious Italian dishes and delicatessens.
