Queen’s Birthday Party & Armed Forces Day Celebrated

On a beautiful sunny day British Ambassador Nick Baird and his wife Caroline (who will soon be leaving Ankara upon termination of their duty) and the new British Defense Attaché Col. Richard Fraser Robinson and his wife Anna hosted a reception to celebrate Queen’s Birthday and Armed Forces Day.

The guest of honor of the event was State Minister & Chief EU Negotiator Egemen Bağış who attended the event with his wife Beyza. Almost all head of diplomatic missions headed by the Dean of Diplomatic Corps Mohammed Nasser Al Wohaibi, many prominent Turkish politicians and figures, almost all AMAC (Ankara Military Attachés Community) members, members of the Turkish General Staff and many journalists were present at the celebration.

Ambassador of Denmark Jesper Vahr, who will soon be leaving Turkey (after staying only for two years in Turkey) to join his new appointment as Nato Chef De Cabinet was center of attention. A new face at the party was Corey Stovahten a Fulbright Scholar. The saddest news at the event was retirement of Turkish General Staff Liaison Officer Lt. Col. Levent Öcal who was very popular among AMAC members.
